Top Gun Cleaning
Speed, efficiency, cost effectiveness and waste reduction are the driving forces behind the world’s most profitable bodyshops. In its continuing quest for improved efficiency in the paintshop, DeVilbiss has turned conventional spray gun cleaning on its head with the launch of a revolution in cleaning technology
Called Pro CLEAN by DeVilbiss, it is the latest addition to the Pro System and represents a quantum leap in spray gun cleaning technology. It’s faster, cleaner, more efficient, highly effective, and significantly reduces solvent use and wastage when compared to traditional spray gun cleaning machines.
Pro CLEAN can be used for solvent or waterborne applications and is a key component in the DeVilbiss Pro System, comprising: the isystem pro spray guns, the DeKups disposable paint cup system and now Pro Clean for quick easy cleaning, with fresh cleaning fluid, no contamination and quick colour changes.
Fast, Efficient and Ecological
It takes on average, just 30 seconds to clean a spray gun using Pro Clean.
All you do is remove the paint cup, connect the gun to the airline and position the gun in the Pro Clean unit. Trigger for 3-4 seconds, the cleaning fluid in the integral aerosol is pumped through the paint cup adaptor, the gun is triggered to clear all the fluid passages of any paint residue. After cleaning the cap using the same system and another blow through, using the integral air system and the gun is clean and ready for the next job.
Solidly constructed in stainless steel, the compact Pro CLEAN unit can be wall mounted to maximise floor space in the mixing room and can be used for either solvent borne and waterborne materials. The aerosol cleaning fluids for solvent (colour coded orange) and waterborne (colour coded blue) are simply dropped into the holder in the top of the machine and one 500 ml can will clean up to 32 spray guns.
Pro CLEAN uses very small amounts of solvent, significantly reducing waste and research has shown that on average, Pro CLEAN slashes gun cleaning costs by up to 70%. Bodyshops using Pro CLEAN can dispense with the need for regular bulk solvent replacement and recycling as it uses a fraction of that used by conventional machines.
Unlike traditional gun cleaning methods, there is no splashing and solvent vapour is virtually eliminated, nevertheless, Pro CLEAN has extraction options on both sides of the machine.
DeVilbiss is offering one Pro CLEAN unit with a supply of disposable cleaning fluid aerosols in a competition just for BODY readers. To enter, answer these two questions.
Q1: DeVilbiss claims a significant reduction in gun cleaning costs by using Pro CLEAN. What’s the claimed percentage reduction over traditional gun cleaning methods?
Q2: How long, on average, does it take to clean an automotive refinish spraygun using Pro CLEAN?

Dirty Diesel
Highlighted on the BBC Watchdog programme is the fact that diesel particulate filters can be problematic for owners of small ‘city’ cars, as these vehicles are particularly likely to be used only for short journeys. Klarius and Forte have answers that bodyshops can use to sort the problem for car owners.
